New Indoor Swimming Pool and Sports Facilities, City of Zug

By conducting this competition, the City of Zug is implementing the requirements of the initiative « For a New Indoor Swimming Pool in Zug », which was approved in 2023 with overwhelming support. The City of Zug plans to construct a new indoor swimming pool on parcel 35 in the so-called « sports mile » of Herti Allmend. In order to ensure needs-based and integral development, the existing buildings of the football and athletics stadium located on the site are included in the planning task. The new sports facilities include an indoor swimming pool with a 50 m pool, teaching pool, leisure pool, training and fitness areas, family-friendly additional services, sports wellness and gastronomy, as well as a district library. The existing buildings of the football and athletics stadium, including outdoor facilities and external areas, are part of the planning task. Investment costs are estimated at CHF 150'000'000.00 (+/- 30%). Submissions are required from a planning team with a master planner mandate. The planning team must necessarily include specialists in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, civil engineering, building services engineering and pool design planning. The leadership (master planner) lies with architecture.
