Multi-purpose sports hall, renovation and extension; open design competition for general planning teams (subject to budget approval)
City territory of Zurich Giesshübelstrasse 41, 8045 Zurich
The City of Zurich plans the renovation of the multi-purpose sports hall built in 1972, including the surrounding area, as well as the extension of the fencing hall added to the east in 1976, to create a larger fencing hall with 16 competition-standard pistes, on properties WD 8280 and WD 9045 in Zurich-Wiedikon. In the immediate vicinity of the multi-purpose sports hall, a new residential settlement is being developed in Brunaupark, including replacement new buildings and a small school. The associated school sports hall, outdoor sports areas, playground, and school garden are to be integrated within the perimeter of the multi-purpose sports hall. The changing rooms for grass sports, currently housed in the changing room building at Allmendstrasse 10, are to be relocated in the future to a separate cluster within the multi-purpose sports hall or its extension, together with additional changing rooms and ancillary spaces for grass sports, recreational sports, and rugby.
