Design Competition - New Construction Triple Kindergarten Kreuzgut On the site of the current double kindergarten and temporary building, a triple kindergarten with a school island is to be designed. The school island should be convertible to a fourth kindergarten if needed. The new design of outdoor spaces within the planning perimeter is an integral part of the design competition. Furthermore, the City of Schaffhausen places great emphasis on promoting innovative concepts for sustainable building. The overall concept is oriented towards ecological and future-oriented construction methods, manages materials, energy and space in a resource-efficient manner, takes into account changing climate conditions, and supports the promotion of biodiversity. With regard to implementation, a circular-economy building is required. A key component is the reuse of building elements. Lists of building components will be provided to the teams, indicating which building elements from the planned demolitions can be reused in the new construction. The client wishes to evaluate, through this design competition, a solution proposal that best implements urban planning and operational requirements and integrates the site area optimally into the school complex through the chosen architectural language of the new construction and the outdoor space design. Design, construction and materialization should enable both resource- and climate-efficient implementation as well as resource- and climate-efficient operation.
