K 4 Kriens, City Centre, Public Transport Measures, Bicycle Path Facility, Operations and Design Concept ODC
The cantonal road K 4 is the main traffic axis in the city of Kriens. In Kriens city centre, it is regularly congested during peak hours due to high traffic volumes. This results in extended queues that also impede public transport. The existing bicycle infrastructure in the city centre does not meet current standards and requirements. Furthermore, there are various traffic and urban planning requirements, such as minimizing severance effects or upgrading public space in the street area that is currently primarily designed for traffic. The traffic situation, including adjacent municipal roads, needs to be optimized. As a first step in planning the road project, an operations and design concept (ODC) is to be developed in collaboration with the city of Kriens.
