Extension of Bellmund School
The municipality of Bellmund plans an expansion of the school complex and has launched a design competition following the selective procedure according to SIA 143. The objective is to expand the spatial offering of the school building through a complementary new construction and to optimize the existing spatial offering in order to implement Curriculum 21 and ensure sustainable school operations. This means creating flexible, multifunctional learning spaces, incorporating the outdoor area. This area stands out for its unique location with views of the Alps and Lake Biel. The school complex consists of a main building from 1972, a renovated farmhouse, a gymnasium, and other secondary buildings that are not directly affected by the planning. An extension of the main building is not possible due to current building regulations. This tender is based on a space concept developed by the directly affected parties and a resulting strategic report on school space planning. This is intended to enable Bellmund School to develop its own profile and identity. The design competition includes the development of a comprehensive concept. It includes the adaptation and renovation of the existing school complex (approximately 2,400 m²) as well as the new construction of approximately 1,500 m² of school space. Pre-qualification is carried out by submitting application documents, which must include references and a letter of motivation. Five planning teams will be selected for the design competition and will receive a flat fee of CHF 23,000 (excluding VAT). The design competition is conducted in several phases, including a kick-off meeting, an intermediate meeting, and the final submission of project documents. Evaluation is based on criteria such as architecture, use, feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability. The result of the procedure serves as the basis for a funding request to the population and the award of planning services to the winning team. Conformity: SIA 143
