Design Competition for Public Spaces and their Integration into a Strategic Vision for the District
Les Glariers, Sierre Design Competition for Public Spaces, contextualised at district level The Les Glariers sector is densely populated and highly diverse from a social perspective. It suffers from a lack of meeting spaces, whether a public square, play areas for children or other public places that foster encounters and interactions. In the heart of this district, the City of Sierre owns several plots of land adjacent to the school and a triple gymnasium. Through this competition, the City wishes to improve the quality of life of residents by creating public spaces on plots it owns. The competition therefore focuses on the design of public spaces located within the competition perimeter (shown in red on plan C1) while respecting the construction cost budget allocated for this project. A contextualised strategic vision will allow for a hierarchisation of public spaces at a broader scale. It will also justify the choice of location for the public spaces proposed within the competition perimeter and their relevance in the context of the district and the city.
