Cantonal Road No. 62, Berg: Correction of Village Street

Cantonal Road No. 62 extends from the Thurgau cantonal border near Landquart via Berg to the Thurgau cantonal border near Freidorf. The project concerns the section of the village street in the village centre (former Restaurant Rebstock to pedestrian crossing No. 355) in the municipality of Berg SG. As part of the «Correction of Village Street» project, the building on plot No. 127 will be demolished and, as part of an investor project of the municipality of Berg, rebuilt with a slight offset while maintaining defined road distances. The new design of the village street is carried out taking into account the variant decision (Variant A) from the preliminary study. The objective is safe and fit-for-purpose traffic management for all road users. A continuous sidewalk, improvements for bicycle traffic as well as optimized accessibility and visibility for motorized individual traffic are planned. Additionally, a reduction of the speed limit to 30 km/h is planned and the position of pedestrian crossing No. 356 will be optimized in terms of visibility and arrangement. The services to be offered include phases 31, 32, 33, 41, 51, 52, 53 according to SIA 103 standard as well as the definitions in the tender documents.
