General planning heat distribution transport pipeline and sewage (Lauterbrunnen – Wengen)
BKW AEK Contracting AG (BAC) is planning the establishment of a new district heating network in the areas of Lauterbrunnen and Wengen. The project includes the utilization of waste heat from the Lauterbrunnen wastewater treatment plant as well as the use of energy wood and heating oil to ensure base load and peak load supply. The generated heat is to be transported via a new district heating network partly in Lauterbrunnen and mainly in Wengen to customers. A transport pipeline is planned between the heat generation plant in Lauterbrunnen (Lauterbrunnen wastewater treatment plant) and the distribution network in Wengen (Roossi pump station). The project for the transport pipeline has already been developed through and including SIA Phase 3.31 (preliminary project). The preliminary project is included in the tender documents (Document D4). In parallel, a condition analysis conducted at the initiative of the Municipality of Lauterbrunnen has shown that the existing sewage pipeline between Chalet Mittaghorn in Wengen and the Lauterbrunnen wastewater treatment plant requires renewal. Due to the spatial synergy potential with the planned district heating transport pipeline, a preliminary project for the replacement of the sewage pipeline has also been initiated. This report is also included in the tender documents (Document D2). Since the sewage pipeline is owned by the Municipality of Lauterbrunnen and the overall planning of both projects is to be carried out by a single planning team for synergy reasons, the entire project is subject to public procurement law. On this basis, the "General planning heat distribution transport pipeline and sewage" is being put out to tender. This includes planning services for the connection between the Lauterbrunnen wastewater treatment plant and the Roossi pump station respectively Chalet Mittaghorn area in Wengen as well as district heating connections in the school/nursing home area in Lauterbrunnen. Specialist planning and specialist construction management of the district heating pipelines are excluded from the planning services and are carried out directly by BAC.
