Master Planning Services for the New Exhibition "Simply Zurich 2028" at the Zurich National Museum
Zurich National Museum
Simply Zurich is primarily aimed at the population of the city and canton of Zurich in all its diversity. The exhibition should be identity-forming for people residing in the canton, offer a place for self-reflection, and enable critical engagement with past and present. Central to this is mediation through guided tours; the scenographic concept must take into account the space requirements for school classes and groups of approximately 30 people. At the same time, tourists and people without a strong Zurich connection or extensive prior knowledge should also be addressed. The subject of the call for tenders is the commissioning of a master planning team for scenography in a selective, two-stage procedure (pre-qualification and tender phase) in the state contract area according to IVöB 2019. A team is sought that, in close collaboration with the co-management of the association (curatorial responsibility), will assume the overall scenographic development of the new permanent exhibition "Simply Zurich 2028". The scope of work includes in particular the design and detailed conception of the exhibition design (space, scenography, media), the development of an overall spatial and dramaturgical concept based on a preliminary curatorial outline with four chapters (Intro, Kaleidoscope, Playground, Outro) as well as the development of mediation levels for different target groups, including child-friendly offerings. Furthermore, the scope of work includes execution planning, the preparation of technical tender documentation for executing companies, the management of the awarding process as well as production supervision and site management until the exhibition is commissioned. The master planning team coordinates the involved specialist planners and special trades (e.g. media, lighting, exhibition graphics, exhibition construction) in close coordination with the client and the responsible departments of the National Museum. Particular importance is placed on robust, low-maintenance solutions and compliance with the operational standards of the National Museum, specifically regarding sustainability, accessibility and four-language provisions. The exhibition should be created as a collaborative work of the curatorial and master planning teams; teams with proven experience in the conception and realization of comparable exhibition projects (museums, permanent exhibitions, scenography) are sought.
