Alpenquai Pedestrian and Cycle Axis I Overall Planning Services SIA Phases 31 to 53
City of Lucerne
The left lake shore is one of the most important recreational areas for the city of Lucerne and is intensively used by the local and non-local population, workers and learners in the Tribschen area and the adjacent quarters. In a first phase, test planning was carried out with three planning teams, which analysed the various sub-areas of the left lake shore in terms of their use, design and interaction. Based on the findings of the test planning, the development concept for the left lake shore was developed in a second phase. The development concept defines seven implementation projects. The implementation project «Alpenquai as a green pedestrian and cycle axis» forms the interface between the Tribschen quarter and the important recreational area «Ufschötti» with its diverse uses and functions. An operational and design concept has been prepared. The Alpenquai is to be relieved of car traffic and converted into a green pedestrian and cycle connection.
