Residential Settlement Herbstweg, Partial Refurbishment and Densification; Open Design Competition for Master Planners (subject to budget approval)

Design competition according to the open procedure for master planners The residential settlement Herbstweg on property SW6036 in the Schwamendingen district is in a worn, partially poor structural condition due to its age. Zurich City Real Estate plans to refurbish approximately two thirds of the settlement, while one third is to be replaced by one or more new buildings as part of a densification measure. The project will increase the number of residents by around 40 percent - from currently 130 to approximately 180 persons in the future. This corresponds to an increase in the number of apartments from currently 52 of around 45 percent. Furthermore, a learning apartment for the School for Physical and Multiple Disabilities (SKB) will be integrated into the new building. The focus of the task is on the new building or buildings as the main project, the extension of existing apartments with projecting balconies as well as the comprehensive redesign of the outdoor space.
