New Building at Kaufmannweg, Renovation Murbacherstrasse 20, Lucerne Single-stage Open Design Competition for Architectural Offices according to SIA 142, Edition 2025

The Catholic Church of the City of Lucerne, KKSL, owns two properties in Lucerne's new town: a pavilion at Kaufmannweg and the corner building Murbacherstrasse 20 on Murbacherstrasse. Both properties can be replanned within a comprehensive project. Both buildings are to have mixed-use, commercial and social uses. New Building at Kaufmannweg A new building is to be planned at Kaufmannweg, with a basement, gastronomic use on the ground floor and office and residential floors above. Renovation Murbacherstrasse 20 The building Murbacherstrasse 20 is listed in the cantonal building inventory as worth preserving; the facades and roof are protected in principle, while the floor plans require restructuring and comprehensive renovation. Exterior Space - Public Urban Space For the public exterior space, it can be proposed how, while maintaining traffic flow, heat-reducing structures would significantly improve the urban climate and quality of stay. Due to the still open overall strategy of the City of Lucerne Civil Engineering Department for this part of the district, no declarations of intent can be made at the time of competition judging for further work on the exterior space.
