Cantonal Road No. 26, Neckertal: Aachbach Bridge 1+2

Cantonal Road No. 26 connects Flawil, Degersheim and Mogelsberg and crosses the Aachbach via Aachbach Bridge 1 and Aachbach Bridge 2. Aachbach Bridge 1 has static deficiencies and does not meet hydraulic requirements, necessitating complete replacement. Aachbach Bridge 2 also falls short of the relevant hydraulic parameters but is in overall structurally acceptable condition. An internal risk assessment has confirmed that rehabilitation represents the most economically and technically suitable option in this case. The affected road section carries relatively low traffic of approximately 1,650 vehicles per day. Despite its predominantly municipal character, it must remain constantly open as the only access route for emergency services. To ensure traffic and operational safety, the approximately 300-metre section in the area of both bridges must be upgraded according to cantonal expansion standards. This includes optimisation of the road alignment, widening of the road surface as well as necessary curve widening and sight distance corrections. The scope of services encompasses all engineering services from preliminary design through to realisation according to SIA phases 31 to 53.
