EPFL faces the challenge of quagga mussel propagation in Lake Geneva and colonization of its cooling networks. A decoupling project at lake level is planned for the long term. While awaiting these works, it is necessary to provide for the decoupling of buildings and to achieve their closure, namely: bringing all industrial water returns to the central unit to pass through heat exchangers. The client's general objective is to compartmentalize industrial water and limit its distribution to one substation per building. These adaptations will, in the long term, protect the buildings, facilitate network maintenance regarding the mussel issue, increase the availability of cold water supply in the buildings, and prepare the building infrastructure to ensure compatibility with the future primary water loop with return. This restricted tender concerns engineering fee services for the adaptation of existing industrial and cold water networks of the Physics building (PH) on the EPFL campus.
