The Burghölzli, the historic site of the University Psychiatric Clinic Zurich (PUK), has always stood for pioneering innovations in research, teaching and treatment, and plays a central role in the development of modern psychiatry. With the planned structural expansion at the Lengg Campus, the PUK will consolidate its inpatient services at a central location, create modern bed units and establish an underground and above-ground connection between the new buildings and the historic existing structure. The architecture follows the principles of 'healing architecture' and combines the highest therapeutic, functional and sustainability requirements. The aim is to create an open psychiatry that provides patients with ideal conditions for recovery and rehabilitation while ensuring operational flexibility for future developments.
