Pont de la Tine Dam + / Studies SIA 31 to 33
Romande Energie holds concessions for the use of the waters of the Grande Eau as driving force, which comprises three main levels in cascade with the Lac d'Arnon reservoir at the head (capacity: 11 million m³): - The Diablerets facility: (H=364.35 m, Q=1.75 m³/s, P=5.3 MW); - The Pont de la Tine facility (H=256.31 m, Q=2.5 m³/s, Puseful=5.7 MW but Pinst=11.2 MW); - The Farettes facility (H=361 m, Q=6.5 m³/s, P=21 MW). The Pont de la Tine facility, subject of the present call for tenders, comprises: - The Aviolats water intake (lateral intake of Tyrolean type with spillway weir) capturing the catchment basin of the Grande Eau and the flow turbined to the Diablerets power station; - an intake gallery with free surface of 5.4 km in length; - the Trappaz pressure chamber; - a penstock with diameter 1200 mm/1100 mm for a total length of 700 meters; - The hydroelectric power station equipped with 2 Pelton units of 5.6 MW each. The detailed flow diagram of the Grande Eau cascade is provided in the plans documentation (Annex 12). The current characteristics of the cascade are the result of several renovation/upgrade campaigns, in particular: - In 1990, the replacement of the Pont de la Tine penstock - the historic penstock becoming discharge penstock - and the two Pelton units in favor of an upgrade allowing the design flow to be increased from 2 m³/s to 5 m³/s and the installed power from 3.6 MW to 11.6 MW. However, the Aviolats water intake and the original intake gallery were retained with the consequence of capping the design flow at 2.5 m³/s and the useful power at 5.8 MW. - In 2016, the upgrade of the Farettes facility with the excavation of a new pressurized intake gallery, the replacement of the penstock and the two Pelton units in favor of an upgrade allowing the design flow to be increased from 2.5 m³/s to 6.5 m³/s and the installed power from 7.5 MW to 21 MW. Thus the present project under study aims to realize the upgrade at a flow of 5 m³/s of the Pont de la Tine facility initiated in 1990 with: - The transformation of the Aviolats water intake; - The excavation of a new intake gallery capable of operating under pressure and with free surface to ensure daily storage/discharge and peak production; - The decommissioning of the current intake gallery and the definition of a monitoring plan to verify its absence of impacts on the environment and third parties; - The dismantling of the Trappaz pressure chamber. The present call for tenders for the studies of phases SIA 31 to 33 follows a feasibility study SIA 21.
