Planning Competitions – Canton Thurgau

Thurgau, an agricultural canton with growing settlement pressure, is active in competition procurement. Frauenfeld, Kreuzlingen, Arbon, Weinfelden and Amriswil are regular clients. School buildings dominate, alongside municipal infrastructure and public administration buildings.

Thurgau uses open and selective project competitions under SIA 142/143. Energy renovation of public buildings and development of new school sites are growing themes. Firms from neighbouring Zurich and St. Gallen agglomerations participate regularly.

The Lake Constance region generates supra-regional competitions related to lakeside design and leisure infrastructure. The international border with Germany creates potential for cross-border projects in the four-country Lake Constance region.
