Planning Competitions – Canton Glarus

Glarus is one of Switzerland's smallest cantons with a correspondingly low competition volume. Following the unique 2011 municipal merger, which consolidated all municipalities into just three large communities (Glarus, Glarus Nord, Glarus Süd), Glarus town is the central competition venue. School buildings, municipal administration buildings and infrastructure projects are in the foreground.

The merger created new planning tasks that continue to drive competition activity: school consolidations and renovations, new residential area development and infrastructure coordination across large areas.

Glarus' architectural landscape features 19th-century industrial buildings from the textile industry era and alpine structures. Renovation and conversion of historic industrial buildings offer distinctive competition opportunities for firms with specialist knowledge.
