Planning Competitions – Canton Appenzell Innerrhoden

Appenzell Innerrhoden is Switzerland's least populous canton and has the lowest competition volume. Appenzell town is the only significant venue. School buildings and public buildings with the characteristic Appenzell timber façade style dominate the rare competitions.

The canton is known for its conservative approach to building tradition and preservation of the traditional Appenzell house form. Heritage conservation and townscape protection play important roles in interventions within the historic village core.

Tourism potential in the Alpstein mountains and proximity to the Lake Constance region occasionally generate projects for leisure infrastructure.
