Planning Competitions – Canton Aargau

Aargau is one of German-speaking Switzerland's most populous and construction-active cantons. As a commuter canton in Zurich's catchment area with strong population growth, priorities lie in school buildings, community centres and housing developments. Cities like Baden, Aarau, Wettingen, Brugg and Rheinfelden are regular clients.

Aargau consistently uses open project competitions under SIA 142 and emphasises sustainable construction for public buildings. Energy renovation of existing school and community buildings is a growing segment.

Transformation projects combining residential and commercial uses are emerging in the Limmattal and along the Aare. Supra-regional firms from the greater Zurich and Basel areas regularly participate in Aargau competitions.
